The Polish Society for the Protection of Birds is one of the largest organisations that protect nature in Poland. We work to protect wild birds and areas where they live. Our actions include monitoring, active conservation, education and shaping policies that have impact on the environment.
The Polish Bird Survey, which has been run by OTOP, forms part of the State Environmental Monitoring. It is conducted for the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection and financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. In addition, OTOP has always been involved in the protection of the globally endangered Aquatic Warbler. As a long term action, we have also been carrying out projects on the conservation of the European Roller and a bird conservation project in the Middle Vistula Valley. We are also currently running two projects, the "Birds of the Carpathians", which consists in a census of the key bird species of the Polish Carpathians and creating a scheme to monitor and protect them, and a project that monitors the effectiveness of agri-environmental schemes in the Lublin region.
Here you will find out more about our projects and what we do for birds and nature.
