Winter Bird Watch

Winter Birdwatch (formerly Winter Birdwatch in Parks and Gardens) is a yearly event, during which every person can record how many individuals of which species visit their feeder, garden, square in front of their house or the nearby park. A survey can be done individually, with friends or at a free birding trip with a guide.

During the Winter Birdwatch we want to focus on those winter species that are seen close to human settlements. Using the data supplied by the participating volunteers we create summaries for the birds that are the most commonly seen in parks and gardens during winter.

The results will not indicate the numbers of birds wintering in Poland, nevertheless, with the data collected annually, we are able to track potential changes and check whether they correspond to the results of scientific reports compiled by professional ornithologists.
