How to visit us? - OTOP

The reserve can be visited only on foot, on the marked tourist trail. The trail allows visitors to explore the reserve and its natural and cultural features while ensuring that birds and other animals remain undisturbed and safe during the breeding season and migration. This is why when visiting Beka visitors are asked to use only the marked trail.

During your visit please do not:

  • disturb animals,
  • feed livestock,
  • damage and pick plants,
  • damage field infrastructure,
  • make noise,
  • drop litter,
  • enter with dogs,
  • sunbathe and swim,
  • camp and light fire.

Where is Beka located?

The Beka Reserve is located at the mouth of the meltwater valley Pradolina Redy, in the delta of the Reda river. The nearest towns are: Mrzezino (1.5 km), Osłonino (1 km) and Rewa (2 km), situated in the Puck Commune, Puck County. The Beka is only 9 km away from Gdynia.

The boundaries of the Reserve are:

  • in the east – the coastal line of the Bay of Puck
  • in the west – the road on the levee, going from Osłonino to Rewa,
  • in the north – the Mrzeziński Channel,
  • in the south – the Zagórska Struga (Łyski Channel).

How to get to the Reserve?

The best choice is by bike!

You can get to the Reserve by the SKM train and bike, both from the Tricity and Wejherowo. Get off the SKM train in Rumia. Follow the road between the Lotos gas station (on your right) and the Castorama (on your left) and cross the junction with the Gdańsk-Szczecin road. Then turn right. Turn into the Starowiejska street at the second traffic lights and continue until the Jan Paweł II roundabout. Follow the signs for Kazimierz and Kosakowo. Leave Rumia taking the I Dywizji Wojska Polskiego street. Before Kazimierz, turn left after a small bridge towards a cycling path on the technical road going to the ash dump of the Gdynia cogeneration plant. Go straight on until you reach the Puck-Pierwoszyno road. At the end of the path, turn right to the road and after some 500 m turn left. Because of the high lorry and farming vehicle traffic, this section of the route is dangerous, so please be especially careful. After turning left, follow the asphalt road until a T-shaped crossroads (you will see a large building and a technical pond in front of the crossroads). Turn left again to reach the bridge over the Łyski Channel. After the channel, a concrete slab road starts, which borders with the Beka Reserve. Go straight on to reach the Reda river and then the Beka channel, with the most distinguishable section of the Reserve found at its mouth – a group of trees and a cross, remnants of a former settlement.

This is not the only way to get to the Reserve by bike, however, due to relatively low traffic on the route (apart from the section of the Puck road), it is safe and relatively easy. More routes will be added if possible.

You can also get there by car

You can get to the Beka Reserve from Gdynia taking several routes:

  1. Gdynia – Reda – Połchowo – Mrzezino
From Gdynia, drive towards Szczecin on the S6 and in Reda (after the church) turn right towards Puck. Go towards Puck. Next, turn right towards the Połchowo village. From Połchowo, continue straight to Mrzezino. Pass the railway station and at the crossroads turn right and go downhill. After reaching the bottom of the meltwater valley, turn left into the dirt road along the slope of the upland. After passing the working and abandoned aggregate pits on your left hand side, you will reach the end of the concrete slab road and the north-western edge of the Reserve. It is forbidden to enter the slab road by car. Continue on foot or by bike.
  2. Gdynia – Kosakowo – Mrzezino
From Gdynia, go towards Kosakowo. In Kosakowo, turn left for Dębogórz and then turn right (towards the cemetery). After the cemetery, turn left again and then turn right to the road for Puck and go until the dirt road along the slope of the upland (turn left there).

From Wejherowo:
Wejherowo – Reda – Połchowo – Mrzezino
From Wejherowo, take the road for Gdynia. When in Reda, turn left for Puck. Next, turn right towards the Połchowo village. From Połchowo, you will get to Mrzezino. Pass the railway station and at the first crossroads turn right and go down to the bottom of the meltwater valley. Continue as in point 1 from Gdynia

From Puck: Puck – Żelistrzewo – Smolno – Mrzezino
In Puck, take the road for Żelistrzewo. In Żelistrzewo (after the railway and the church), turn left. Pass Smolno and Mrzezino. You will reach the crossroads with the dirt road along the bottom of the Kępa Pucka (point 1 Gdynia).

…by train

At the Gdynia Główna Osobowa station, take the passenger train for Hel to the village of Mrzezino. The current train schedule is available at www.pkp.pl. When at the Mrzezino station, turn left (do not cross the railroad), get to the first crossroads and turn right. Go down a steep hill and after the second bridge turn left to the concrete slab road. You will reach the Reserve in about 40 minutes.

…by bus
