
The meeting is aimed at early-career researchers — those who are young in their research career rather than years! In particular, it welcomes students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD) as well as researchers who have completed their PhD within the last five years.
The main goals of the meeting are to provide a forum for discussing ongoing research and to help early-career ornithologists build their professional networks by meeting peers in a relaxed and informal setting.
While the programme (apart from the plenary talks) is dedicated to early-career researchers presenting and discussing their work, anyone with an interest in ornithology is warmly invited to attend.

How to arrive
BY PLANE
Gdańsk has an international airport, Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport. You can fly directly to Gdańsk from many European cities, as well as from major Polish cities such as Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Poznań, and Katowice. The airport is located about 12 km from the city centre and well connected by public transport. It is possible to purchase bus or train tickets directly at their respective stations.
The Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway (PKM) connects the airport with the city. Take a train towards Gdańsk Wrzeszcz or Gdańsk Główny.
Duration: approx. 25–30 minutes
Ticket price: around 6–8 PLN (approx. €1.40-1.80)
Bus lines that connect the airport to the city are line 110 runs to Gdańsk Wrzeszcz station, and 210 runs to Gdańsk Główny and city centre.
Duration: about 25 minutes to Gdańsk Wrzeszcz, about 40–50 minutes to Gdańsk Główny.
Frequency during working days: 3 per hour (110), 2 per hour (210)
Frequency during weekends: 1-2 per hour (110), 1 per hour (210)
Ticket price: 4.80 PLN (€1.09)
A taxi from the airport to the city centre costs around 40–60 PLN (approx. €9-14), depending on the time of day and traffic. Ride-hailing services like Bolt, FreeNow, and Uber are also available.
BY TRAIN
Gdańsk is well connected to other major Polish cities. There are direct trains to and from Warsaw, Kraków, Poznań, Wrocław, Katowice, Łódź, and Bydgoszcz. The main railway station is Gdańsk Główny, located in the city centre. Train tickets can be purchased at https://www.intercity.pl/en/ 
From Gdańsk Główny, the University of Gdańsk can be reached by SKM train (get off at Gdańsk Przymorze-Uniwersytet) or by bus.
BY BUS
Long-distance buses are another popular mean of transportation, e.g. https://www.flixbus.co.uk. They arrive at Gdańsk Bus Station, next to Gdańsk Główny train station.
How to move around Gdańsk and nearby cities
BY TRAIN
There are 2 railway system in Gdańsk and nearby cities:
Both of those systems meet near University of Gdansk Campus, therefore you can arrive at the conference via any of them. The closest stations are Gdańsk Przymorze-Uniwersytet (via SKM) and Gdańsk Strzyża (via PKM).
Important – the tickets to those systems are separate!
 The price depends on the distance covered.
 You can buy tickets from the conductor, in ticket machines or via apps, like JakDojade, Skycash and KOLEO.
BY TRAM
There are 11 tram lines in the agglomeration, all of which are restricted in their entire lengths to Gdańsk. Up-to-date tram map to download can be found here:

The closest tram stops to the Campus are Uniwersytet Gdański and Strzyża PKM, operated by lines 5, 6 and 12. Additionally, line 9 arrives at the loop Strzyża PKM.

BY TRAM
Both Gdańsk and Gdynia have extensive bus networks, but they are operated by completely different companies. This means, tickets for Gdańsk public transport are not valid in Gdynia and vice versa. In Gdańsk, the same tickets are valid for buses and trams alike, therefore the prices will be exactly the same. Ticker prices for Gdynia public transport look as follows:
– single-trip – 4.80 PLN (€1.09)
– 75-minute – 6.00 PLN (€1.36)
– 24-hour – 22.00 PLN (€5.00)
Sopot is operated by both systems, but most lines belong to Gdynia’s public transport company. You can tell them apart by colors: Gdańsk buses are red-and-beige, while those from Gdynia are blue-and-white.
The closest bus stops to the Campus are:
–  Biblioteka Główna UG – operated by 149 and 199;
– Uniwersytet Gdański – operated by 149.
BY TRAM
Bike – In Tricity, there is a bicycle system called MEVO. To use it, you need to download the app.
With it, you can find the closest bike and scan the QR code to start. After the ride, leave the bike at one of the stations and pay. The map of all stations can be found here.
Gdańsk has an extensive network of bike lines, which are in large majority separate from roadways. Here you can find the map.

GDAŃSK ZOO
Located in a picturesque valley surrounded by Oliwa Forest, Gdańsk ZOO is one of the largest of its kind in Poland. Famous for breeding Andean condors, it is home to many other species, like the angolan lion, sand cat, cheetah, Rothschild giraffe, binturong, barasingha deer, lowland anoa, capybara, greater rhea, southern ground hornbill, various primates, waterfowl and many more! One of the most famous inhabitants is Kokosanka (meaning: „Coconut cookie”), an albino African penguin.
Location: Gdańsk, Oliwa district, about 10 km from Gdańsk Główny station and 3 km from the Faculty of Biology
How to get there: via bus line 169, which starts its course from Gdańsk Oliwa (reachable by tram lines 2, 5, 6 and 12).
Ticket price: 30 PLN (€6.82)
Opening hours: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm (entrance until 2:00 pm) during working days;
 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (entrance until 4:00 pm) on weekends.
GDYNIA AQUARIUM
Being a combination of a museum and a zoo, Gdynia Aquarium is a great place for every marine and aquatic wildlife lover. Located entirely within one large building, it is a great alternative to the ZOO on cold and rainy days. Animal exhibitions are grouped into theme halls. Some of the species presented are: alligator gar, common snapping turtle, dwarf crocodile, bluespotted ribbontail ray, laced morray, red lionfish, ocellaris clownfish, electric eel, red-bellied piranha and green anaconda.
Location: Gdynia, city centre, about 2 km from Gdynia Główna station, 19 km from Gdańsk Główny station and 15 km from the Faculty of Biology
How to get there: via SKM train to Gdynia Główna station, then 30 minutes on foot
