Zapis wideo oraz prezentacje z Międzynarodowej konferencji o ochronie torfowisk

12 czerwca 2025 roku odbyła się międzynarodowa konferencja online na temat ochrony i odtwarzania torfowisk. Wydarzenie zostało zorganizowane przez OTOP BirdLife Polska we współpracy z Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group (UNCG) oraz Snowchange Cooperative, w ramach projektu „Nature-Based Solutions in Open Wetlands Restoration for Biodiversity, Water Quality Improvement and Climate Mitigation”, który finansowany jest przez Nordic Council of Ministers.

Konferencja zgromadziła na żywo blisko 150 uczestników z różnych krajów. Jej celem była wymiana wiedzy i doświadczeń dotyczących ochrony torfowisk w kontekście różnorodności biologicznej, jakości wody i przeciwdziałania zmianom klimatu, a także roli tych działań w sytuacjach kryzysowych, takich jak konflikt zbrojny.

Najważniejsze wnioski:
– zarówno prelegenci jak i uczestnicy dostrzegają potrzebę współpracy międzynarodowej między organizacjami i instytucjami zajmującymi się ochroną terenów podmokłych
– rośnie znaczenie działań opartych na przyrodzie (Nature-Based Solutions)
– ochrona torfowisk powinna być uwzględniana w planowaniu przestrzennym, zwłaszcza w kontekście odbudowy terenów dotkniętych skutkami wojny.

Video recording and presentations from the International Conference on Peatland Conservation

 

On 12th June 2025, an international online conference on peatland conservation and restoration was held. The event was organised by OTOP BirdLife Poland in cooperation with the Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group (UNCG) and Snowchange Cooperative, as part of the project ‘Nature-Based Solutions in Open Wetlands Restoration for Biodiversity, Water Quality Improvement and Climate Mitigation’, which is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.

The conference brought together nearly 150 participants from various countries. Its aim was to exchange knowledge and experiences on peatland conservation in the context of biodiversity, water quality and climate change mitigation, as well as the role of these activities in crisis situations, such as armed conflict.

An English-language recording of the event is available online – part 1 and part 2. A Ukrainian version is currently being prepared.

Key conclusions:

– both speakers and participants recognise the need for international cooperation between organisations and institutions involved in wetland conservation

– the importance of nature-based solutions is growing

– peatlands protection should be taken into account in spatial planning, especially in the context of restoring areas affected by war.
